Technical Architect

We are looking for a technical architect with a passion for open standards and collaboration and a strong security and scalability mindset to join our team in the education technology sector. This role requires a skilled and motivated professional with at least 5 years of senior technical expertise and a strong foundation in full-stack development. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, excel at communicating technical concepts to diverse audiences, and be results-oriented in delivering impactful solutions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Advocate for and implement technical standards, ensuring alignment across teams and projects.
  • Collaborate with subject-matter specialists and stakeholders across the sector to support their activities in specification development.
  • Support cross-functional teams to design and implement high-quality, standards-compliant technical solutions.
  • Scope technical requirements and create robust, scalable, and maintainable technical designs.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment across related standards and support a continuous drive for interoperability in the EdTech ecosystem.
  • Develop and automate high-quality technical artifacts and documents to support project goals.
  • Design, produce, and lead training courses and materials to upskill teams.
  • Clearly explain and advocate for technical standards to audiences of all skill levels, including leadership teams.
  • Automate processes and share best practices to support the community in delivering effective solutions.
  • Ensure all solutions adhere to strong security and privacy principles, with data protection as a top priority.
  • Present technical ideas and solutions effectively to internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years in a senior technical role with strong development skills. Java and JavaScript/TypeScript expertise is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with full-stack development and a deep understanding of various design patterns and their applications.
  • Ability to articulate, implement, and champion technical standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver solutions with a security- and privacy-first mindset.
  • Enjoy teamwork, with excellent communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in creating and delivering training courses and materials.
  • Proficiency in automating processes to ensure efficiency and consistency in delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Results-oriented and can prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and deliver impactful results.
  • To be flexible and adaptable to manage responsibilities and priorities across multiple projects.
  • Excel in a remote work environment.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the education technology sector or a deep understanding of its unique challenges and opportunities.
  • Familiarity with data analytics or AI-related projects and proven ability to design and implement data-driven solutions.
  • Experience working with distributed teams and global stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and a commitment to staying updated on industry trends.
  • Proficiency in Java and/ or JavaScript/ TypeScript.
  • Experience delivering scalable solutions in IaaS environments (AWS/ GCP or Azure).
  • Experience guiding architecture alignment in a distributed Agile environment
